CHAPTER 11
Flight 815 to London is leaving in half an hour….

Kate hugged David and Rose, “Im going to miss you two so much ill call every day”, Kate said, “I really doubt it would be too expensive but you can call us every other day and e-mail u daily if you wish” Rose said, they said their last goodbyes and then Kate got in her plane, she sat down and a few minutes alter Dan sat down next to her, “Nervous?” Dan asked…”Very nervous, we will be alone in a complete new country with a whole new company, new teachers, and friends”, Kate answered. Dan laughed and said “Well at least ill have my baby” Kate smiled and said, “Thank you”…Dan looked at her confused “for what?”, “for helping me get over Gerard, I mean im still not over him I really love him” Dan nodded and said, “You will get to meet new people over there and I’m sure that you will surely find a guy who deserves you” Kate smiled and then they were suddenly flying, it was a long flight they kept talking about all that they were going to do over there and they slept the rest of the time, she then heard Dan said, “Wake up we are landing”, Kate woke up and then looked through the window it was a beautiful scenery she couldn’t believe that she was going to live here from now on, although she was a bit homesick she then took the necklace David had gave her for her birthday and hold it tight, it always made her feel better, when they landed they went to get their suitcases and then they went outside to look for the cab that was waiting for them, both of them got in and headed to their new home. When they got there a man opened the door and helped them with their suitcases, both of them went inside the building and suddenly a man came, he wasn’t too old he had brown hair and brown eyes, “Kate Daniels?” the man asked, Kate nodded, “Oh, it’s a pleasure to meet you, now would you come to my office for a moment” Kate followed him a room that was to her right, she sat down and the guy sat down in his desk, “Im Robert Kirkland, im the director here”, Kate smiled and said, “Pleased to meet you, and thank you for the opportunity”…”Oh, nonsense you earned it and you also had luck since our soloist is leaving tomorrow and you are going to be the new one” Kate smiled and said, “Well then I guess im very lucky”…”Oh definitely he said, and besides you are really young so you will get a lot of experience with this”, Kate smiled and then he said, “Well enjoy your stay here, Aesha will show you the way to your room and she will give you your schedule, oh and we are going to work a lot the next day, you see we are helping this orphanage and we are doing a charity with some other famous people from London and the charity will be in just 3 weeks so you will be learning your choreographies and attending to rehearsals all the time”…Kate smiled and said, “Well we can do some sacrifices for those orphans”…the director nodded and said, “Yeah, well enjoy your staying here you are sharing a room with Nicole she is also part of the company maybe she could show you around”, Kate smiled and said “Well then I have to go to my room” she then went outside of the office Aesha was sitting outside, “this way” she said, Kate followed her and after a lot of halls she got to her room, Aesha knocked on the door, no one answered, “I guess Nicole isn’t here but go in and start fixing your stuff” Kate nodded and opened the door, the room was a little bit bigger than the one she had in the ABA, and this one didn’t have any bunker beds, just two twin beds a little sofa a TV, a stereo, the closet, the bathroom and a window that had a wonderful view to the city. She placed her suitcase in one of the beds and started putting her things in the drawers that were empty in the closet I then heard the door open it was a girl she was short had black hair and brown eyes, she smiled and said, “Im Natalie”…”Oh, Im Kate” Kate said with a huge smile in her face she immediately knew that they were going to become friends, “Yeah, I know you are the new soloist too in fact the youngest soloist we have had” Kate laughed and said, “Yeah im the new soloist”, she laughed and then Natalie said, “So where did you dance before?”, “At the ABA, I took classes there for a year but I used to take classes before” Kate answered, they continued talking for about an hour and then they went downstairs and had some dinner tomorrow was going to be a long day.

CHAPTER 12
“So ABA, I have seen some pretty good dancers who were trained there” Natalie said as she looked at Kate and Dan across the table, “Yeah they do” Dan said as he finished his food, the three of them stood up and then a girl with blue eyes and black hair came to where we were followed by t another guy, he had red hair and blue eyes too, they presented themselves as Regina and Josh, they all kept talking as they headed outside for some fresh air they became good friends everyone was so nice and it was really good to be around people that share something in common with you, Kate thought, then Natalie said, “Well we better go to sleep”, Kate followed her to their room, Natalie immediately went to sleep but Kate decided to take a shower and after that she went to sleep, the next morning their alarm clock started ringing, Kate woke up and looked at Natalie who was still sleeping, “come on, wake up” Kate said as she shooked Natalie, “Im up, im up” Natalie said as she sat down in her bed and rubbed her eyes, but girls changed into their pink tights and black leotard they got in a black skirt and made their hair’s in clean buns, they headed downstairs for something to eat, and they were apparently some of the few people there, Kate looked confused at Natalie, when she danced in the ABA the cafeteria was always full, they sat down and then Dan came and sat next to Kate, “hey baby don’t you think this is completely different form the ABA”…Kate nodded and said, “Its supposed to be different” Natalie looked at them and said, “Are you dating?”…Both Dan and Kate started laughing and then Kate finally managed to get some words out of her mouth, “No, why?” Natalie looked at them and said, “Well he called you baby”, Dan told Natalie the whole story about the nickname and then Natalie said, “Oh now that explains it”…”Hey Natalie, why is the cafeteria so lonely?” Dan asked as he looked around to see if more people had been coming in, Natalie then said, “Oh well that’s because its early, this is just the company, we eat earlier because we are having our rehearsals earlier, the student wont come here until about an hour and a half because their classes start later”, Kate nodded and said, “Well then I guess we should finish eating and go to the studio”, the three of them finished and Natalie guided them to the studio when they got there they were a few other people sitting and talking while some girls got in their pointe shoes and the other were just chatting, waiting for the instructor, Kate saw Regina sitting down hitting her pointe shoes, she walked to where she was and sat down next to her followed by Natalie, the three of them finished putting on their pointe shoes and Natalie placed a leg warmer in her right ankle, she looked at Kate who was looking around the room, just seeing the people she would be practicing until god know when, finally she saw the doors open and a lady and a guy come in, she immediately identified the guy as Robert, the director, the lady presented herself as Margot Richards, “Okay everyone to the barre.” Everyone walked to the barre and they warmed up they then continued with some exercises in the center of the room, after a few hours of exercises they finally heard the music they were going to be dancing, the principal dancers started practicing, they had already practiced so they knew their parts, everyone knew them except for Dan and Kate they were the new ones in the company. “Kate Daniels” the instructor said, Kate took a step in front of everyone else and said, “Here”, the teacher smiled and said, “Lets start choreographing”.

CHAPTER 13

“The rest of you can go to the studio next door to practice”, Robert said, the rest of the dancers went out of the room, a few of them stayed the male soloist and the principal dancers stayed there, then they all started to walk to another studio too, but they were going to practice their dances. Kate looked at the trainer and smiled, both the trainer and Kate started to hear the music and after that the choreographing started, it was long hours of practicing falling, getting up and continuing before Kate got a break, two weeks had gone by, the charity presentation was just a week away and now Kate knew her choreography, they started dancing in the auditorium too, everyone was sweaty, the girls feet were bleeding but they continued to be enthusiastic about their presentation.

“The presentation is tomorrow” said the trainer as she saw all of the dancers going back inside the auditorium again after their short brake, the principal dancers made their grand pas de deux, then the principal ballerina danced with the rest of the dancers, Kate was included in there too, they were rehearsing just as the presentation would bee, they were using their tutus and all of that stuff, it was now Kate’s turn for her solo, she danced it once and then the trainer made her repeat it just as all of the other choreographies had been repeated, preparation, tendue, pirouette…the floor, now that wasn’t part of the choreography Kate said to herself as she stood up to start all over again, “Kate, are you alright?” Morgan said as she saw Kate stand up, “Yeah im fine just a little bit tired” Kate replied as she waited for the song to start over again. Margot nodded and then the song started this time Kate managed to dance without falling, although she felt like if she was about to collapse in the floor in any second, the rehearsal was finally over Natalie and Kate both walked back to their dorm, neither one of them said a word on their way there.

When they got there Natalie turned on the stereo and Kate took a shower when she was done she went to her bed and plopped down, her legs immediately felt better her body was resting now after a long day of dancing she deserved it, “What are you reading?” Kate said as she saw Natalie read an article from a magazine, “Just about celebrities”, Kate then said, “Oh, well im going to sleep we seriously need to rest”

CHAPTER 14

Kate woke up with all of the noise Natalie was doing; she was opening drawers and practically turning them around looking for something, “What are you doing?” Kate asked as she went out of bed picking up some of her stuff that Natalie had thrown in the floor, “Im looking for my cigarettes, im nervous” Natalie answered as she finally found them, “Natalie you aren’t supposed to smoke the company needs healthy dancers” Kate said as she took the cigarettes away from her, “Kate it will just be one I promise I just need to calm my nerves” Natalie said as she tried to grab them from Kate’s hand failing, “No, I know what will calm your nerves, lets just go and eat something downstairs and then you can practice a little bit before getting ready for the presentation” Kate said, “Okay, fine but if that doesn’t work im definitely going to smoke” Natalie replied as she went to her closet to grab some clothes, both girls got ready and went downstairs, the whole company was there, most of them with nervous looks in their faces, everyone was so quiet like if they were going over their choreographies over and over again, just to see if they weren’t forgetting something. When they finished having breakfast Kate went with Natalie to one of the studios, “here we are, now practice”, Kate said as she sat down to see Natalie, she went over the choreography three times, when she saw that she could do it perfectly she said, “Okay im not as nervous now but its getting late we should go to our room”, Kate nodded and both girls went back to their rooms, they placed the dresses that they would be using for the after party, their got their leotards, pointe shoes, tights and all of their stuff and headed to the auditorium, all of the dancers where there already, Robert gave a speech to motivate them all, they all shared some good luck words and then they started to warm up, after that the male dancers went to the dressing rooms and the girls went to the girls dressing rooms, they all got their make up done, placed their hair up in neat buns and then they changed to their outfits, some had tutus other had dresses, they were all different, Kate had to sue a tutu and then she also used a dress for the other choreography, everyone warmed up again, some prayed for everything to go right, others called their family members or friends and then they heard the voices of the public, they heard the presentation of the ballet, Robert was talking to the public about the orphanage and the charity work and then the principal dancers went on stage, they prepared their positions to start dancing and then the curtain raised, the music started and they started dancing, the moment that everyone had been practicing for was here.

CHAPTER 15

“Our part of the charity doesn’t start until tomorrow, so what are we doing here” Skandar said, “Well this is how the charity officially starts and since we are contributing in it we need to be here, everybody is here look” William said pointing to some other artists, “Well I will most probably fall asleep, this isn’t my type of thing” Skandar replied as the four kids went inside of the auditorium, “Well try not falling asleep Skandar it would give a pretty bad impression” Anna said as they sat down, “I can’t wait why is it taking so long?” Georgie said, “Well the dancers have to get ready” Anna answered, “Right, they do have to warm up and all of that stuff” Georgie replied, “Ladies and gentleman, today we would like to present the companies new repertoire, we are all here helping a charity for the orphans…..”, “Who is him?” Skandar whispered, “I don’t know maybe he is the owner of this ballet” William replied, “He is the director… now shut up it’s not polite to be talking while someone else is”…The show started, everyone was quiet and every time one choreography finished the people would clap and cheer, “This is so boring…couldn’t we just come to the after party” Skandar said, “No, and I bet you couldn’t jump like they do” Georgie answered, “Sshhh” Anna said, “Why did he dance alone?” William asked as everyone clapped, “Because he is a soloist” Georgie answered smartly, “How come you know that and I don’t” William said laughing, “Because I used to take ballet lessons”. There was another dance and then it was Kate’s turn, “is she a soloist too?” Skandar asked, “yeah, she is but she looks my age” Anna answered, Kate was doing several jumps and arabesques, followed by some Fouettés, she then did a Grand J’ete, which is a horizontal jump, starting from one leg and landing on the other. It is most often done forward and usually involves a split in mid-air, and she finished with some pirouettes. “Wow that must hurt” Skandar said.

Kate finished and went out of stage, “Wow” she said to herself, “I know I saw you it was amazing, but you need to run to get changed to your next outfit” Dan said, “Right” kate said as she runend to change, she quickly changed some ladies helping her, and she ran abck to stage she had two minuets to change and then go abck to dancing the final coreography, “Look there she is again, how could she change so fast” Georgie said pointing at Kate, “I don’t know it must be another girl it is impossible to do that” Skandar said, “No its her im sure” Georgie replied, when the presentation was finally over, the whole company made a caravan and left.

“It was amazing” Natalie said as she and kate walked to the girls dressing rooms, “I know I want to go abck to that stage and do it again” Kate answered, both girls took their dresses and changed, Kate’s dress was pink and she used the necklace David gave her, she elft her hair down and then walked to the lobby where the party was held.
