I just got back from Ocean Springs Mississippi. I was on a mission trip to help clean up from the very damaging hurricane Katrina. It was a real test of wills, seeing the houses that were gone and the houses that were almost all gone that couldn't be lived in and the people who lived where their house used to be in their Fema trailers. I helped clean up the marsh, where we found people's things and dug out peoples homes. There were 7 homes on the marsh, and now there are none at all. There is a porch of one, but that's all. Mississippi people rock, they are so gracious to us for volunteering to go down to help. I don't know if anyone else has ever been on a mission trip, but if you haven't and you get the oppurtunity ----- GO! You will feel so helpful and proud by the end of the time you are there, and it doesn't look like much, but it feels like a ton! I made so many friends and it was just a good experience I urge anyone who has the chance go.

thats awesome valerie! i've been on quite a few mission trips myself and they are so rewarding! the last one i went on was actually to new orleans for katrina relief - it was like right after it happened and i rmb wearin coveralls, steel toe workboots, saftey glasses, and gas masks and having such a feeling of hope! it was amazing how we cleaned out a huge church, and many neighborhoods that were just ruined! many of the ppl we came across also gave their lives to christ which was just a bonus on top of everything else we experienced! on another trip one time we went to surf camp and evangualized during the us open surf comp! . . . when i have a career my dream is to be a missionary, cause when i'm on a mission trip its when i'm happiest

yeah, the one day we had to clean out a man's trailer and it ended up being really a hazard areaso we hadto leave, and we wore those plastic gloves and work gloves overthem

i think i am going on a missions trip soon to somewhere in colo but i dont know if i can come up with the $ for it! i hope i getta go though!

if ur meant to go on the trip then God will supply the money!!! believe me, one trip that me and my sis went on was like $1650 each and the day b4 we still owed $900 together and it was there by the end of that day! rmb john 14:14 "You may ask me for anything in my name, and i will do it." ask Him in His holy name for help and He will provide and have FAITH that He will come through b/c w/ Him all things are possible, you could move a mountain w/ ur faith (mark 11:22-24) so just have faith, believe that He will provide, and do ur best to get what u can
